It is my great honor and privilege to be working with the horses we have at Round About Stables. They serve as my guides, teachers, healers and family. Please meet our herd:
Dillon - The Kind Warrior: Goofy, beautiful, majestic, 14 year old bay thoroughbred gelding. Extremely social, loves human interaction.
Will come up to you right away in the paddock and follow you around like an extremely large puppy dog. Came to us from a rescue group north of Dallas. Starved by the barn where
he was staying when his owner could no longer pay for his board. Recovering nicely. Has put on some good weight and muscle. When we first rode him, he had no muscle and it was like riding a wiggly worm.
GUS - The Patient Teacher: Very large 16 year old bay thoroughbred gelding - Very trustworthy and congenial to ride. Can do arena work or trail rides with him.
ICE BOX - Wonderful All-Around Pony: Dappled grey, 14.2 hands, the perfect size for kids and adults, good at everything including trail riding, arena work, and jumping.
Too smart for his own good! Beloved by my 9 year old daughter. Her first and only riding choice.
SHIMMER - Beautiful buttermilk buckskin 4 year old filly. From a nearby rescue. Neglected by her first 2 homes, she has put on weight and is doing well with her groundwork training.
SKY The Pony of the Year: 13.2 black and white tri-color paint with 2 sky blue eyes. At 5 years old, just as calm, cool and adorable as can be. Loves the trail and lots of attention.
GYPSY The Diva: My first horse purchased 4 years ago. Very nicely trained 17 year old appendix mare. Smooth walk, trot, canter. Can be moody. Good at everything.
ESTHER STAR - Another rescue, very thin, still working on getting her in good flesh. Nervous, from an abusive situation, she is just starting to relax and know that she is safe here
and has a permanent home.
LACEY - The Sweet Girl: One of the sweetest horses I've ever met. A mom to at least 2 other mares. She is sensitive to cues and is bottom of the totem pole in the paddock.
A 18 year old paint horse who can be riden English or Western.
COOPER - The Lover: Whenever I need some healing, happy energy, Cooper is the one. An 8 year old sorrel and white paint/draft mix with a white heart on his behind,
right by his tail and the longest, most beautiful mane of any horse on our property. Cooper is extremely grounded as well as stubborn and determined and is an awesome trail horse.
TEDDY - The Regal Mascot: Our property mascot, Teddy was also a rescue. At the ripe old age of around 26, Teddy came to us awfully skinny and smelling like rot.
I wasn't sure how to care for him when they implored me to take him in, or if I wanted the responsibility to care for an older, decaying horse. Now, many months later, Teddy is a
new horse and has blossomed at Round About Stables with free rein to go wherever his heart desires on our 25 acres. He now smells like a healthy, hearty, thriving horse. He is my touchstone
and many beginner's first choice to ride. Our young female riders tend to bond quickly with him as their hearts go out to him for all he has been through.
COCOA CHANEL and
MOCHA LISA - The Silly Baby Girls: Our 1 year old and 2 year old gray baby fillies, just learning the basics as we prepare
to start them when they turn 3. Bought for their temperments and to teach me the missing links of my education about starting horses from the ground up, they are the apple of my eye and LOVE attention.
